Louise Manavaz-Guevorkian was born into an Armenian family in Shiraz, Iran. At the age of ten she moved to Tehran along with her family. After graduating from Jeanne d’Arc French high school, she followed her childhood dream of painting and entered Kamal ol-Molk school of fine arts. She learned the art of Persian miniature under some of the great masters of the field such as M. Tajvidi, M. Zavieh, and J. Shirazi.
After getting married and having children, she abandoned painting for several years. She returned to her passion in early 90’s by participating in the painting courses of Armineh Nahapetian, which she still continues to attend. Most of Louise Manavaz’s paintings fall in the category of Safavid era Persian miniature. She has so far participated in several group exhibitions in Tehran and hopefully she will have her own exhibition in near future.
